I Care About Your Suffering

September 20 – 26, 2016

I am pleased to see more authors promoting the science behind their work.  I came to understand how my science connected to my writing several years ago. In both my artistic and scientific endeavors I care about you—your success and your suffering; those things that tighten your chest, worry your nights, or press in on your thoughts. If I can make that load lighter, more bearable, or just validated—so you don’t feel alone. Well, I will push science and writing for these things.

You know you’re a nerd when this is your idea of a selfie (laugh). Seriously, we are all connected by what makes us human. This is my reminder to care about others, because in doing so I maintain my own humanity and we are all here for only a short time. Link for video at bottom.

Below is a picture of the Poinsettias I pinched back and planted this past spring. They flourished. They are from our special occasion before Christmas 2015. They should start to turn red when the nights get longer than the days. I’m posting them because events this weekend reminded me we how special they are and how much their growth is a reflection of so many variables I can’t identify them all, but it makes me smile every time I see the green of their leaves and the strength of their stems. I know what little I may have contributed, they turned it into something beautiful.

Finally, an update on the manuscript and project-N. I’m going to focus more on the writing this week because several authors are releasing books these next few months. My own work, both in writing and science, is in a nice place for now; so I want to do what I can to promote these authors. Below is the Sudoku puzzle for the Peri Reed series promotion. If you haven’t been here before, check out the how to play page for game details.

Also, Emelle Gamble, the author of “Secret Sister” has a new book coming out this week called “The Second Man”. And if you missed Lori Ann Bailey at the signing, stop by her Facebook and chat with her there. Her debut book “Highland Deception” has already won several awards. Another book  I recommend is a non-fiction one written by Rita Clay Estrada. A dear friend of mine recently lost her home to fire, so I recognize the value of Rita’s candor and recommendations in her book “What to do before the Storm”.

I’ve listed these authors today because each of them has in some way impacted my life and I appreciate their commitment to the art of writing.
