Decide On A Path

May 2, 2016

The Writer’s Retreat rocked as Maggie Linton from Sirius XM discussed techniques and secrets to great interviews. Having a portfolio of interviews with best-selling authors, celebrities, scientists, athletes, and more, Maggie came to interview us. Her genuine nature and skill at interviewing brought out the best in each of us. Then, she and our colleagues critiqued our interview to help us improve. The focus and enthusiasm I felt speaking with her helped give structure to my own ideas about the book I plan to publish. Thank you Maggie Linton. You can find Maggie at channel 126 Sirius XM radio or online at the Maggielintonshow.

I’m taking a deep breath now that I’m home; so many experiences from retreat to savor. The fun began just in the getting there. I passed this body of water on my way to retreat and stopped to take it in.

Concrete and steel vibrated beneath my feet as eighteen-wheelers, four at a time, rumbled across the bridge—assailing the peace and serenity of what existed below. I shut out the noise and vibration to focus on the water: it rushed over vegetation and rock till forced to divide into two paths. I watched and wondered which path the kayaker would choose.

I would choose the path to the left. The challenge of rapids compel the use and development of skill. However, the areas of calm create a place of renewal and rest. Determined to experience both I’d push the kayak into a back and forth route that would take longer to reach the end, but endurance and depth of ability would be the final result.

mmmm . . . It was a beautiful day as I climbed back into my ride with project – N secure in my pocket and navigated my way to a wonderful writer’s retreat.

Decide on a path; commit to it, pursue it with diligence, curiosity, and vigor.
